Custom-made or off the shelf splints can play a vital role in supporting recovery and maintaining function following neurological injury or illness. At Vim Health, our Occupational Therapists are trained in the safe and effective provision of thermoplastic splinting, creating bespoke orthoses tailored to your individual needs and goals.

Splinting can help manage spasticity, protect healing structures, prevent deformity, and support improved function in daily activities. Whether you need a resting splint to maintain joint position, a functional splint to assist with tasks, or serial splinting to gradually increase range of movement, our team will work closely with you to design and fabricate the right solution.

For anyone who has experienced neurological injury or illness that affects arm and hand function, splinting can be beneficial.  This includes people recovering from stroke, spinal cord injury, acquired brain injury, or living with progressive neurological conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis or Parkinson’s Disease.

Custom splints may be recommended if you experience muscle weakness, spasticity, joint contractures, pain, or difficulty using your hand for everyday tasks. Our Occupational Therapists will assess your specific needs and work with you to determine whether splinting could support your rehabilitation goals.
