What happens in a therapy session?
Each therapy session at VIM Health will vary between patients so we can’t answer this beforehand, but you can expect to be mobilising, exercising, or training in some way. The initial assessment is an hour to an hour and half in length, this will give your physio the opportunity to understand your needs and personal goals. From there they will make recommendations for follow treatment plan.
This will provide you more details on what to expect from each session, our therapists will use a combination of hands-on-therapy and rehabilitation technology to maximise recovery outcomes.
How long will my therapy session last?
Our initial assessments last from one hour to an hour and a half. Follow up treatments are 50 minutes in length, or 45 minutes if you are on our bursary scheme.
Can I bring someone with me to therapy?
Yes, you are more than welcome to bring someone with you to both therapy sessions and when attending the Gym. We ask you not to bring more than two people with you to maintain a comfortable space for all attending. We have an honesty Kitchen stocked with healthy snack bars and crisps. You may help yourself to Tea for free. There is a pricelist for all other produce and piggy bank for your donation. We also have Netflix in our waiting room, for you to enjoy whilst your waiting for your session.
What results can I expect from therapy?
Results from rehabilitation therapy are very individual and can depend on the illness or injury you are recovering from, how long ago it was, and other factors such as the areas of the body that are affected.
Our key aim initially is to understand your goal. Some people may be aiming for walking again, others may want to be able to pick up a cup – we can help at either end of the spectrum of recovery and will discuss this during your initial assessment.
What should I wear to my therapy session?
Therapy sessions usually include physical motion so clothing and footwear that are not restrictive are necessary. It’s also important that you feel comfortable.
Depending on your treatment, your therapist may need access to certain areas of your body too so for example, if you are working on your lower leg, shorts would be appropriate.
Where can I park?
We have ample disabled parking located at the front of the building to ensure you can access your therapy sessions with ease. We also have a drop of bay, to allow those who can to drop off and pick up. We have more non-disabled bays located to the rear of the centre.
